Type and Use
Paraffin Insecticidal Oil, formerly known as Super Oleotion, is a contact insecticide based on paraffin effective against insects (cochineal, aphid, whitefly) and mites.
Paraffin oil is biodegradable, and safe for the cultivation of flowers and fruits for human consumption as long as safety periods mandated by the manufacturer are respected. Because it coats the plant's surface with a protective film, it's not recommendable to use during flowering, as it can spoil the taste, or overall quality of the flowers.
Super oleotion is a product of Trabe, a "Made in Spain" company that has led the cannabis pesticide market in recent years. They've brought us high-quality products like Popolix or their well-known horsetail extract Ekisan.
Benefits to Plants
Trabe's Paraffin Insecticidal Oil is an insecticide that acts by suffocation, coating the plant's surface with a protective film to shield it against fungal spore threats to our crops. It causes suffocation of insects and mites in their larval and adult states.
Paraffin oil can also serve as an adjuvant with other compatible fungicides or insecticides. You'll need to consult the manufacturer to know the compatibilities of this product, as combining two incompatible products may harm the plant, or even you.
Instructions and Dosage
It's applied foliarly. You'll need to dilute 10-15ml per Liter of water.
To properly control pests, you should apply the treatment approximately every 15 days. However, you'll need to refer to the instructions for the precise application schedules based on the pest you're managing.
You shouldn't apply Super Oleotion if you've previously treated your crops with Sulphur.
Super Oleotion from Trabe can be used as a fungus preventative, thus preventing any potential insects from growing and reproducing in your crop, since regularly applying it will suffocate young specimens that may have built up a substantial future offspring.
Composition
83% Paraffin Oil.
La Huerta’s Opinion
This product from Trabe is ideal for fending off cochineal, aphids, whiteflies, and mites, facilitating pest control in crops without resorting to harsh chemicals.
To better guide you with Super Oleotion's application schedules, you can refer to information from our blog, like the life cycle of the cochineal to roughly know when to apply Super Oleotion. Though this is valid for any pest you want to combat. Knowing your enemy is the key to defeating them.
