Applications of Cali Terpenes
The cannabis aromas ( terpene profiles) by Cali Terpenes are used for many different applications. But within the cannabis and vaping industry, they are primarily used to add the aroma and flavor of specific cannabis strains to products such as:
- Vaping liquids (e-liquids).
- Cannabis extracts and concentrates (rosin, BHO, traditional hash, THC or CBD distillates for making "vape cartridges"…).
- Hemp flowers or cannabis (buds).
How to Use Cali Terpenes' Terpenes
The Cali Terpenes terpenes are 100% pure, without diluents or additives. They should be handled with care and are not meant to be consumed without being diluted (except when sampling from Cali Terpenes pipettes or borosilicate vaporizers).
1ml of terpenes is equivalent to 40 drops, with each drop in a 1ml dropper equal to 0.025ml. In a 10ml base, one drop of terpenes is approximately 0.25%:
1 drop in 10ml = 0.25%
2 drops in 10 ml = 0.50%
4 drops in 10ml = 1%
8 drops in 10ml = 2%
12 drops in 10ml = 3%
We always recommend starting with a smaller quantity and working your way up as Cali Terpenes terpenes can easily deliver an intense flavor and aroma, thanks to their 100% purity.
Vaping Liquids (E-Liquids):
- The recommended terpene ratio for imparting sufficient flavor to e-liquid bases is between 1 and 3% (up to 4%, with 2% the most common).
- For example, suppose you want to flavor a 10ml e-liquid base with a 2% terpene ratio. In this case, you'd only need to add 0.2ml of terpenes.
- If you're working with 100ml of e-liquid base, you'd add 2ml of terpenes following the same ratio.
Cannabis Extracts and Concentrates:
- The recommended Cali Terpenes terpene ratio for adding sufficient flavor and aroma to dry extracts (traditional hash, dry…), as well as BHO (shatter, live resin, wax…), rosin, THC or CBD distillates... is between 1 and 3% of terpenes (up to a maximum of 4%, with 2 to 3% the most common).
- As an example, suppose you have 10g of cannabis concentrate (for example, a distillate) and you want to add 3% terpenes. In this case, you'd only need to add 0.3ml of our terpenes.
- We recommend starting with smaller amounts for testing out different quantities - for example: 1 drop for 3g, one drop for 2g, one drop for 1g. Sample after a few days to appreciate the results of the different proportions used. This approach will help you to determine the ideal ratio before mixing everything together.
- Importantly, ensure thorough mixing to achieve a well-blended result, and allow at least 24 to 48 hours of resting/soaking time. This will allow the terpenes to fully integrate.

Hemp or Cannabis Flowers:
Terpenes can also be used to add aroma to buds, whether hemp or cannabis flowers. It's recommended not to add more than 4% of terpenes. Some flowers may already contain some terpenes of their own. Using an excessive amount of terpenes would result in an overly intense and potentially unpleasant aroma.
The ideal method for applying terpenes to buds, flowers and dried herbs is with a Terps Spray.
If you're working with small amounts of buds, you can use these liquid terpenes in a cosmetic spray or similar for a function similar (but not as professional) to Terps Spray. Although it's also possible to use blotting paper with terpenes in the same container, they're usually better integrated when sprayed onto buds.
Storage of Terpenes
Cali Terpenes terpene packaging offers perfect terpene preservation, equipped with a safety seal, leak-proof disc, and a screw-on cap.
- Every time you're done using the product, ensure to replace all these elements to prevent evaporation and contamination.
- Terpenes are volatile elements, so we recommend always storing them cold in the refrigerator (approx. 7ºC) in order to prevent evaporation while working with them.
- The working temperature with terpenes should not exceed 60ºC to prevent the most volatile terpenes from evaporating.
- Always keep the terpenes in their original container, as the used materials (dark glass that doesn't allow UV entry) offer excellent preservation of thermo- or photosensitive products. This will avoid any change in colour, loss or cross-contamination (terpenes can act as solvents and corrode remains of materials such as some plastics).
