Silicate is a silicon supplement in a solid format, which protects the plant against soil diseases and enhances the elasticity and hardness of the cell walls. It was developed by Terra Aquatica using over 60 types of minerals.
Benefits for the Plant
Silicon is a non-essential element but very beneficial for plants. It's present in the clay of soil mixtures, but scarce in coconut fiber and not found at all in rock wool.
The colloids present in Silicate increase the CEC (Cation Exchange Capacity) of the substrate, improving the availability of nutrients, especially potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc, copper, and manganese.
Use and Dosage
Directly in the pot: add a teaspoon at the base of the stem of each plant, at the time of transplanting.
Applied in irrigation: 4 g of Silicate for every 10 liters of irrigation water
Foliar application: 4g of Silicate for every 10 liters
La Huerta's Opinion
In hydroponic grows, you should avoid using Silicate in combination with BM additives and Terra Aquatica Subculture, as the silicic acid formed in the water is harmful to microorganisms.
