Uses
Air pumps are used in organic, mineral, or bio-mineral cultivation. They're a way to oxygenate water to accelerate chlorine loss, and are commonly used in all types of cultivation for the uniform mixing of fertilizer or additives in irrigation water.
In organic grows, especially where microbial life is used, chlorine is a major enemy. You can eliminate it through osmosis systems, or if unavailable, you can oxygenate the water for 24 hours to remove a large amount of these particles.
Compost Tea: This involves activating microorganisms and enabling them to multiply before application. The idea is to provide ideal conditions in a controlled aquatic environment for their reproduction, the key being to oxygenate the water as most of these species need oxygen to survive and reproduce.
La Huerta's Opinion
The use of these pumps should be combined with diffuser stones sized to their flow. In La Huerta's catalogue, you can find various shapes and flow rates that best meet the grower's needs, whether for compost teas or hydroponic systems.
